Living in a World of Extremes

I can't believe it's already September! I love the fall. It's my favorite season, and although it doesn't actually start until the END of September, there's something about the start of September that brings me the fuzzy fall feelings...especially since the weather here in Chicago is going to be in the high 70's for the next couple of weeks. It's a nice break from the hot and humid weather we've had in August!

It seems to me like many things exist in extremes nowadays, and the weather is one of them. As you may have read on our website or in past blogs, community, inclusion, and sustainability are essential to us as a company. I recently met Shane, the owner of Grass Fed Eats, and not only was I exposed to his AMAZING meats, but I learned a lot about his regenerative farm and how uncommon yet important this type of farming is. On their land (in Southern Michigan), they practice a process called regenerative farming. It is farming and grazing practices that, among other benefits, reverse climate change by rebuilding soil organic matter and restoring degraded soil biodiversity – resulting in both carbon drawdown and improving the water cycle. Their mission is to make sure their animals are raised with the highest of standards because, after all, we are what we eat.

This is SO important and a way that we all can contribute to helping make a positive change to our land and climate. I wanted to introduce you to this company not only because of their sustainable practice but because their meat is delicious and pairs excellently with That Rub! Please check out their website and try it for yourself!! **They are also at the Bloomingdale Maker's Market each month with us on the last Sunday of every month.

As we look to continue to grow our business, we want you to know That Rub is more than a seasoning blend. It's a business that helps sustain our family, a black and woman-owned business, and a business that cares about ways we can change our community and our world through our actions. So thank you as always for being on this ride with us, and we promise you that you are doing more than just seasoning your food when you purchase our products...more big things to come!!
